In a splendid commemoration of tradition, heritage, and unwavering commitment, The Asian School, Bahrain marked Founder's Day 2023 on Thursday, 2nd November 2023, a day devoted to honouring the indomitable spirit of our late founder-chairman, Mr. Joseph Thomas. The program commenced at 7 p.m., unfolding a captivating evening of celebration and tribute that gracefully concluded at 10:30 p.m., leaving an indelible mark on all in attendance.
The prestigious event was graced by the esteemed presence of His Excellency Mr. Vinod K. Jacob, the distinguished Ambassador of India to the Kingdom of Bahrain, as the Chief Guest. His presence lent an air of magnificence to the proceedings, underscoring the significance of this momentous occasion. The esteemed Guest of Honour was Ms. Shirley Yateem, whose presence added an extra layer of significance to the event.
The program commenced with a captivating invocation dance performance, an enchanting display of our students' artistic prowess. This mesmerizing dance set the perfect tone for an
evening that promised a celebration of heritage, talent, and shared values.
Ms. Lovy Joseph, The Director of The Asian School, took the stage and delivered an inspirational address. With warmth and eloquence, she underscored the importance of our
school community and the indelible legacy left by Mr. Joseph Thomas.
The ASB Symphony Orchestra, an embodiment of musical excellence, graced the event with a trio of spellbinding performances – Retro Rhythms: Yesteryear Melodies. Their symphonic melodies transcended auditory delight, conjuring a harmonious atmosphere of unity and jubilation.
The Principal Ms. Molly Mammen addressed the audience, her words resonating with the assembled guests. She eloquently expounded upon the enduring values and principles that
remain the guiding force for our school, reaffirming our collective commitment to an education of excellence.
Founder's Day served as the fitting occasion for the recognition of literary excellence. The prize distribution ceremony for the Inter-school literary competition held on 28th October was a high point of the evening. This competition, a tribute to the founder chairman,
became a platform for students to showcase their literary talents. The school hosted four distinct events, Words with Wings, Speak to Lead, Soliloquy, Off the Cuff; each meticulously
tailored to cater to different age groups and levels of literary prowess. The winners were felicitated with certificates and trophies, lauded for their exceptional abilities. The Joseph Thomas Memorial Ever Rolling Trophy for the year 2023-24 was shared by The New Millennium School and The Bahrain Indian School.
His Excellency Mr. Vinod K. Jacob, our Chief Guest, bestowed the winners with their honours and graced the gathering with a speech steeped in wisdom and inspiration.
In a commendable tradition, The Asian School celebrated the academic prowess of students from grades 3 and 4 for the academic year 2022-23. The Principal's Honour List, a
prestigious accolade, was awarded to those students who exhibited exceptional academic capabilities within their respective grade levels. The ceremony was graced by our Guest of Honour, who took the esteemed role of awarding the students with their certificates,
celebrating their dedication to academic excellence.
In addition to recognizing academic excellence, The Asian School also honoured exceptional achievements in the realm of cultural competitions. The 'Kalashiromani' and 'Kalapraveen' titles were awarded to students who demonstrated extraordinary talents
in the Talent Fest 2023-24 held within the school. These accolades were accompanied by the prestigious Ali Hussain Yateem Cash Prize, a fitting tribute to their remarkable achievements. This year's recognition ceremony saw four outstanding students being
honoured as overall winners, with two 'Kalashiromani' awardees representing the juniors and two 'Kalapraveen' awardees from the senior category.
The evening reached its zenith in a grand and heartwarming finale, uniting all participants in a moment of collective celebration. The Vice Principal, Mr. Jude Antony, eloquently delivered the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude and appreciation on behalf of the school community. Founder's Day 2023 achieved a resounding success, skillfully coordinated by Mrs. Mini Roy, the Head of Activities at the school. This event underscored the enduring
legacy of Mr. Joseph Thomas and the school's commitment to honouring his memory. As we reflect on the life and achievements of Mr. Joseph Thomas, we are reminded that his legacy lives on in the hallowed halls of our institution, in the hearts of our students, and within the broader community.
